Did you know that LVMH (the maker behind those lovely handbags, champagne, couture clothing.... and lots more luxurious things) invests in web companies? One of my favorite online retailers - eLuxury - is in their portfolio, amongst others. I had a meeting with the head of LVMH Capital (he's also the former head of Intel Europe!) and the director of e-commerce for Christian Dior Couture. I was hoping to walk away with a free sample handbag, or even a nice pair of strappy sandals (why not!) but instead, I had a nice breakfast at the Hotel Vitale instead. Oh well ;-) Anyway, it was fun talking to my French friends about the life of geekhood (we discovered I was the biggest online shopping geek they'd ever met) and how fashion inevitably will also succumb to the charms of the nerds. Right on.
