Arriving in Solage Resort

Napa 003, originally uploaded by kathyjohnson.

Owned by the same team that owns Auberge du Soleil (where Christina Aguilerre recently got hitched) and Calistoga Ranch (where the cheapest room is $1200), we happened to discover Solage Resort during our last trip to Napa. It's a fantastic place where the staff all ride bikes (no cars allowed for them - even in the rain). The landscaping uses lots of fragrant plants, so you'll find yourself strolling down a path and be enveloped by the scent of lavendar... ahh! Dogs are also very welcome - Riley got a big fluffy bed and when we had a nightcap at the outdoor bar last night, they brought Riley a heavy ceramic bowl of water and a plate of freshly baked organic dog treats. He and we were impressed.

Each guest gets a standalone studio here, with comfy chairs for relaxing on your outdoor patio, a large soft bed with fluffy down pillows and duvet, and a spacious bathroom with a stone shower. Everything is eco-friendly as well - solar energy, biodegradable products, water-conscious plants, etc. There are daily fitness classes on offer including yoga, aerobics, and pilates, plus two beautiful pools for soaking in the wine country sun. Which is what I'm going to do now!
