Devils Gulch Ranch charity event

Last night we went to Devil's Gulch Ranch charity event to benefit the wonderful hands-on school they run at the ranch. The event featured the first time all the Marin county wines were brought together for a tasting. We tasted a Miller pinot noir (my maiden name), and a wine crafted by John Fogerty's (from Creedance Clearwater Revival) brother.

Following the wine tasting, we were treated to an incredible meal of various meats from the ranch. Venison that had marinated for a week and was barbequed with a wonderful tangy sauce, succulent rabbit with roasted turnips, pork loin, and lamb with pumpkin, apricots and spices. The chefs had to cook the meats outside in the dark and rain, but it didn't dampen their skills as everything was cooked to perfection.

There was also a silent auction - I bid on quite a few items, so I guess I'll find out via email whether we've "won" anything, including a private event at French Laundry and a hands-on experience of cooking with the chef of Kuletos.
