It had been raining overnight and there were intermittant showers in the early morning, but by the time the race started, the clouds dried up and the temperature was perfect for a fast 5 mile race through Central Park. There were about 3,000 runners lined up in the corrals, collected in groups according to their anticipated finish time.
This was the first running of the NYRR 5-Mile Race for friends and family of the NY Marathon.
