When I was a kid growing up in Arizona, I enjoyed spotting the occassional road runner speeding across the parched ground. What I really enjoyed was catching lizards in the playground - but unfortunately, they were the kind of lizard that lost their tail if you grabbed it, so most of the time I was left with a squirming tail, but no lizard (the tail would eventually grow back). Anyway, I digress...
What I really loved when we moved from Arizona to Washington state was seeing these magnificent white birds that I'd only seen on TV. I'd gaze in awe at their beauty. Okay, after a while, I got used to them being as common as crows. But I still do enjoy seagulls. Their cawing is usually accompanied by the smell of salty sea air and you usually catch them in a nice setting like this (there was a seal in the background, but he dove before I could catch him in the shot).
This seagull seemed to be giving me the eye as I was snacking on the most incredible rose-infused macaroon you could imagine. I discovered it in the Ferry Building - they come from Miette Patisserie. Do give them a try.
p.s. Thanks Cathy for the weather report ;-)
