I went shopping in Shanghai on Monday

My friend Howard told me about this site called Shangby.com, which is a cool way to buy jewelry and silks directly from China, without leaving your PC. I tried it out on Monday and I must say, it was quite fun. I sat at my desk and watched a live video feed from Shanghai stream in. On the other side, my shopping guide Nina and the store proprietor, Monica, presented gorgeous gems, necklaces, bracelets and earrings to me while we discussed the items together. I had a chance to negotiate the prices -- saving hundreds of dollars from the normal US retail. I could even ask them to zoom in to items, or try them on so I could see how it would actually look. It was like having my very own personal shopper dispatched to China so that I could avoid the jetlag and airfare ;-)

You can check out the site here.
